Cion Corp. acquires Coulter Building Consultants Ltd. to augment its expanding service base in the Building Sciences sector

TORONTO – September 15, 2015 – Cion Corp., an Ingenium Group company that provides technical services tailored to the property and facilities management industry is pleased to announce its acquisition of Coulter Building Consultants Ltd., a well-known and respected Burlington-based group of consulting engineers and building scientists.

As specialists in the assessment and problem correction of multi-unit residential, commercial, institutional and recreational properties, Coulter Building Consultants work with building owners and property managers to address what are often unique problems in the design, maintenance and rehabilitation of existing buildings and structures.

“This important acquisition is in line with Cion’s corporate strategy of focused and measured expansion of its Building Sciences services,” said Victor Smith, President and CEO, Ingenium Group Inc. “We recognize the value of the brand that founder Kim Coulter has built and are confident that its market reach will help Cion leverage its excellent technical capabilities,” he added.

Mr. Smith went on to announce that the new name of the amalgamated companies will be Cion|Coulter and, that Kim Coulter will remain active as President of Cion|Coulter with a focus on business development and growth. The company will operate from offices in Burlington and Toronto.

“I believe that this transaction offers a lot of promise for both organizations,” said Mr. Coulter. “By combining forces with Cion, we’ve created a company that shares our passion for technical excellence and client service with a strong desire to be a dominant player in the Ontario building sciences market.”

To date, Coulter Building Consultants has concentrated its operations in the Burlington, Oakville, Hamilton, and Niagara regions. “Now, with a Toronto office and staff, we are better positioned to grow the important Toronto condo market,” he added.

Evan Shkolnik, Director of Operations at Cion|Coulter, is excited about the future prospects of the newly expanded company. “The acquisition represents the organizations commitment of building on our current success. I look forward to working with Kim on the continued growth of our brand as an industry leading engineering and building science firm.”

The newly formed Cion|Coulter is able to leverage the formidable engineering strength of its parent company to deliver a level of service that is unique in the marketplace. Cion|Coulter will continue to focus on technical analysis and project management services for the maintenance, remediation and repair of residential, commercial and institutional buildings.
